ESPN GameDay

A few weeks ago, ESPN GameDay visited Eugene for the UO-ASU football game. This was the second time GameDay has been out to Eugene this year, which is significant because the program hardly ever travels to the same school twice in the same season! Drew had really, really wanted to go to the game with us, but for a variety of reasons it wasn't going to work so I decided to wake up early and take him to the GameDay set. The hope was that he'd get some of the same "feel" of the experience by taking him to the set even if he couldn't actually attend the game. The program goes on the air at 7:00AM, but I have little doubt that there were people staking out their positions around 3 or 4 in the morning (if not earlier). With the darkness and the fog the whole atmosphere was a bit surreal, and there were signs everywhere. I'd estimate that there were several thousand fans out at the set. Here are a few pictures:

Drew still looks a bit groggy

You can see the set in the distance in this photo. They have a big screen set up alongside the actual set so that the crowd can see what is actually being broadcast.
